Default A Doctors Advice

Well after dealing with a wicked sore throat for the past 5 days and than losing my voice as of this morning I left work a bit early to see my doctor, and he diagnosed me with laryngitis and since I work in a warehouse he told me to take a couple days off, as all the dust may irritate it and prolong the recovery or make it worse.

I recently just started working at this place and they only gave me a couple days vacation until the new fiscal year starts on Feb. 1st.

My problem is taking the time with out pay will force me to have to delve into my savings to cover a couple bills.I normally wouldn't be in this situation ,but I spent more than I should have on a new guitar a couple weeks ago.

So what would you guys do in the situation? How closing should I follow my doctors advice?

Go to work. Hydrate. Wear a mask. Wash your hands.

I'm not too familiar with working in a warehouse myself, but in offices I've worked in I'd expect a courtesy where they'd give me my normal pay, give me a couple days off, and I'd make up for it with additional hours worked later, or something to that effect.

A big argument in your favor is the work environment that the company provides may be hazardous to your health.

They should want to give you a day or two of recovery to avoid them causing you additional time off work, and claims from you to workers compensation that will cost them much much more in the long run.

go home and rest till you get better. use your savings thats what its there for in case something unexpected happens. try to pick up extra days/hours when you start feeling better

I work for a Japanese company, and they expect you to work until your eyes bleed

That said, go to work and tough it out. Especially considering you just started that company. Did you finish your probationary period up yet?

Well if you just feel like total $h!t then stay home. But if you think you can make it through the day, I agree with CKit. That would be the best to do. Money for everyone is tight these days.

depending of the location of said bleeding, it may not be necessary to take time off work

(I'm a jerk, I know)

Unless you have severe asthma. If you have severe asthma take the time off.

I'm not very sick, just regular cold symptoms with the addition of the laryngitis which just feels like a sore throat and my voice being half gone.

Also I don't really have to go through probationary period as I worked for this company before just a different job,I'm usually working by myself so the risk of it spreading is low

I work in maintenance,so my hours are strictly 7-4 unless OT is called for the regular workers than in which case I have to be there, and the operations are completely shut down on the weekends, so there is really no chance of making it up.

I'm probably just gonna run to the pharmacy to get a few masks and just suck it up.
