Does anyone else find this amusing?

It seems that in the last 5-8 years Pontiac (and to a lesser extent Chevy/Ford) has been under the impression that taking a lower end version of whatever vehicle (in this case the TA) the way to let everyone know you've spent the extra money for the "Z" version of it (z24,z26,z28,z71, etc.) is to slap the thing full of plastic. It doesn't just stop with the TA though and the "supposed" sports cars. I began noticing the plastic creep on the Bonneville and Gran Prix / Grand Am too. The more you pay the more plastic you get. All the crap hanging on the doors and the front/rear bumpers. Looks absolutely ridiculous.
I remember when I bought my first new car, a '92 Jetta GLI, sweet a$$ car, but the dealer tried to convince me that a Gran Prix was not only faster/better handling, but also sportier looking. I said, "Why, because it's got more plastic??" And bought the Jetta from another salesperson. I'm glad to see they've continued in this vein!

I kind of agree on the Pontiac end of things. They do put a lot into making a visual distinction between models via spoilers, ground effects, etc. Chevrolet is much different though. The only difference (visually) between a base 6 cyl. Camaro and a Z28 are the three Z28 badges and dual exhaust. The only difference between a Z28 and SS are rims, ram air hood an a lipped spoiler. Fords are much more like Chevrolet than Pontiac when it comes to distinguishing between models. They do make a few changes but most are pretty subtle.

1997 Z28 M6 - could be a sleeper if I took off the badges and figured out a way to quiet a lopey cam!
