Default Does anyone here drive a Honda Metropolitan scooter?

I am thinking of getting one of these as my daily commuter to save miles on the S2000. I don't feel safe driving a motorcycle nor can I afford the cost... I know some of you may think these are kinda wimpy, but I like the retro styling of them and frankly look great on one

Just curious if anyone has had any history with one?? Or comments/ suggestions? Where to buy?

Granted I'd rather have an old Vespa but they are twice as much and usually need work.

Thanks in advance

My uncle has one...it actually is not the best scooter I have ridden, it pretty much tops out at around 30mph, 35 you might get on a downhill, but thats about it.

They used to have a Honda Aero 50 and it was much quicker...

Unless you can still to really back roads where the speed limit isn't over 35mph, I really would consider a larger scooter with a bigger motor. I mean it is lots of fun, great gas mileage and all, but unless you have a very quiet commute I would look to something slightly larger.

I was actually considering one myself last year, but even on the 40mph zones, you will be getting smoked and that really isn't safe either.

I have one!!!!!
make sure you get the Metropolitan, not the Metorpolitan II.
The II is limited to 25mph.
I can go 40 on a flat road on mine, and im 5'11" and around 260lbs.
Its a great way to get around. People always smile and ask questions.
I think the american society is ready to accept scooters as an economic fun form of transport.
And its a Honda...just gas it and go!

PM Me if you have any questions.

I have an '03 Vespa ET4 and a 1996 Yamaha Riva 125. Both are excellent short distance commuters in that they will both do over 60MPH. The Yamaha is a 125cc 4-stroke engine with an automatic vari-drive transmission. If you can find one for sale, I'd take a serious look at it. You might be able to find in good condition(like mine) for around $1500. I ride them to work when the weather is decent and they are my main mode of errand running. They are definitely fun to ride.
