Default Does anyone know about...

So my wife has been getting into ice skating lately, and we decided it's about time we buy her some good skates of her own. Neither her or I know anything about buying ice skates, so we wouldn't know where to begin.

Do any of you guys here happen to know about ice skates(what's a good brand for beginners figure skating, any website for good deals, etc...)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Anyone else want to follow me to a Camaro forum and ask about gardening?

Sorry if I offended you, Mark, but that's why I posted in "Off-Topic," unless I'm misunderstanding what off-topic means.

Nah you asked in the right place. Or the Sports and Online Games forum would've been good.

Nobody here is willing to admit they're into figure skating though, it seems

Is she taking lessons? If yes, ask the instructor for a referral.

If not, I would go to the pro-shop affiliated with the rink your skating at.

Having played ice hockey for many, many years, I would tell you that a properly fit skate will make your wife a better AND happier skater. You can begin to look for bargains from the second pair onwards. The first pair can literally make or break her desire to continue.

I suggest she doesn't wear any socks when skating. She'll get used to it.

Also, get the skates sharpened often. If she finds someone who does a good job, make sure you use them regularly. Each skate tech has their own signature and she'll know the difference when she gets more advanced.
