Default Does birth control pill affect a woman's ability to get pregnant AFTER she's off?

I'm having an argument with a friend. I said no, the pill doesn't do jack to screw up a woman's ability to get pregnant after she's off the pill. My friend said other friends have said it does because this other girl who's been on the pill since she's 20 (now 30 years old) is having all kinds of problems having a child. I said it's gotta be a pre-existing condition, and no way related to the pill.

So, where are the scientific studies on this issue? Can anyone point me to those articles?

IIRC they say it can take 3 months and over to concieve after coming off of the pill.

My wife managed it in a few weeks the first time but took a few months for the second.

Everything I've seen says that once the pill is stopped, it can take a few months for the woman to become fertile again, but that there are no lasting effects. Of course, most of what I've seen comes from the Internet, so who knows how scientific any of it is.

Here are a few sites...

http://www.epigee.org/guide/medfaq.html#infertile

http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/ask_doctor/pil...gterm_use.shtml

There are lots of other sources, you just need to give Google the correct keywords.

I think that you will find that it is written on the instructions that come in the box with the monthly supply.
