Default Dog owners...

My little Pomeranian barks excessively sometimes and it gets quite annoying. I see these collars that are supposed to emit a sound when the dog barks to keep them from barking.

I was just wondering if anyone has tried any of these products? And do they work?

Just curious Thanks

I do on occasion use one. I have 2 Miniature Pinschers which are the yappiest, barkiest dogs around. The ones that emit a sound don't work. Get one that sprays a small shot of Citronella. It is harmless but dogs HATE the smell of it. After I have the dog wear it for about 5 minutes I can take it off and they behave. I haven't even put it on them in months now. When they start being absolutely out of control I grab the collar and wave it around their face for a second and they shut RIGHT up. They don't want anything to do with it and they know they better behave or they will have to wear it.

Most anti bark collars look bigger than your dog.

how old is the dog? I would suggest some dog training manuals, the monks are a great start. My dog only barks if there is a buglar or if there is an earthquake coming ( i kid not ). He can also speak on command or by hand gesture

be sure the electrodes penetrate the dogs fur coat. talk to a dog trainer in your area, a dog's attitude is well understood by these peeps and their opiniion can be functional. i keep the dogs inside, (2) 70 lb irish setters. each of my dogs, when i got them, went to a local trainer to tune them up to required stnadards.

I have a Dalmatian and whenever he's going crazy.. i strap on the muzzle. Oh he shuts up quick and knows he's punished and goes to his "corner".

I've never used any kind of shock collar......It seems most smaller dogs have more of an issue with near constant barking....I have a Rottweiler and the only time he barks is when he needs to tell me something.....

I DON'T recommend a shock collar. That is excessive. The citronella collar just sprays some liquid out that dogs hate to smell. No physical harm.

Little dogs do seem to bark more. My MinPins bark when anyone is in the cul-de-sac, a motorcycle with loud pipes goes by outside, people are talking around the corner in the neighbors yard, birds are in the back yard, etc... MinPins are just a very vocal breed. I don't use the collar on them 99% of the time. You can't punish a dog for being a dog. Sometimes though, they can get really worked up and then it becomes necessary.
