Default Don't beavers live near water???

The weirdest thing....I get done having breakfast and I am about to go and inspect the pool for opening...and then I think I see the BIGGEST squirrel in the world....but upon looking closer, I realize it is a freakin' beaver!!!

(I need to get a zoom lense real bad)

Correct me if I am wrong...but don't beavers live near water? There are absolutely NO rivers, ponds or any other "wet" or "damp" areas in the vecinity...WTF? ....

Why would a beaver pay me a visit like that, out of the blue?

Looks more like a ground hog not a beaver, to me.

Why didn't you step out of the house to get a better shot? Afraid of a little beaver?

Under-rated is right. Nothing a .17 or .22 can't take care of.

This is a little off topic, however relevant to wild animals. I was riding dirt bikes in eastern Wa, three rattle snakes were shored up on the rocks where I was pissing in the river. I heard this rattle, I look back 3 snakes all rattlers, before I could think about running I was 50 yards away. Holy sh!t, I'm just warning about wild animals. I feel safe in a car, I'll tease their ass all day long. Now out of the car, I'll be standing on the roof. Better yet, standing on a roof busting a cap in their rabid ass, shoud they try attacking.

You're right, beavers do live near water (hey, you DO have a pool! ). But that isn't a beaver, it's a woodchuck. It looks like a pretty good size one, too. That would make sense, as flat, midwestern areas are well-known for their "chuck" populations. I used to live in Lincoln, NE, and there were an assload of those things living around. The farmers hated them cause they ate everything. They used to gladly let us hunt them in their fields. That's win/win to me! Next time you better bust a cap in his furry ass, or he'll eat all your flowers/garden veggies.
