According to Wiki, the Hornet was about 40,000 tons, and the modern super carriers are two and a half times the weight at 101,000 tons.
*edit* The 40,000 tons was after refitting in 1956, during WWII it was 27,000 tons, or a little over a fourth the displacement of a modern supercarrier. The Ronald Reagan has a flight deck that is a full 70 yards longer than the hornet had.
hey! i went to the memorial and there was a carrier coming in too. I don't remember which carrier nor do I have any experience in size of carriers. But here's a pic of it.

going to pearl harbor was a great experience. it was quite overwhelming at the memorial
