Doping allegations against Lance -again-
As you probably know by now, The French paper L'Equipe has accussed 7 time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong of using EPO during the 99 Tour, this time with "scientifically sound" evidence.
Apparently 2 sets of urine samples were taken at that time, and he has tested positive on sample "B"
This was done with the latest technology to detect EPO, and there is no way for EPO to get in there unless he either took the stuff or somebody is plotting against him and somehow managed to contaminate the sample.
Lance will appear on Larry King tonight and is denying the accusations.
Rumors being rumors, it seems that the suspicion has surrounded Lance for a number of years, a former assistant to Lance also mentioned the doping issue in the book "LA confidential"
Is this a cynical plot by L'Equipe to sell more papers, or is Lance a cheat and a cynic?
What do you think, and why?
Cheers
Daniel

so which is it? One sample from back in 1999, or six samples out of six? Kind of sounds like someone is making things up, you know?
It is really unbelievable what the man has accomplished, but I fail to believe all the people supporting him would be doing so if there was a hint of him cheating. Obviously, a French rag is going to get more mileage out of something like this than an American mag, but it hardly means it is true. The lack of any real evidence kind of implies the lack of any cheating, don't you think? I mean, some sample taken back in 1999 tested positive, after all this time, but no other positive results? Please. Maybe a more rational explanation is that aliens were doping the other riders in the races with performance-impairing substances :/

I didn't post to argue with you. I merely posted what I read in todays paper....
Also, perhaps even a more rational explanation could be that there are millions of dollars at stake here and the public may never really know what the truth is....
To blindly accept that he is too lilly white to cheat or to blindly accept that he is cheating, to me, speaks volumes as to ones intelligence.
Until I happen to run into him for a short race around the lake I personally couldn't give a hsit if he's doped.

That's funny, all I heard from the French was: "blah, blah, blah, we're a bunch of jealous pussies and we'll do anything to try and sabotage the reputation of one of the greatest athletes of all time."
