Default "Drive-by" Trick or Treating?

First time in about 10 years that I've been at a house where trick or treating goes on (used to be in apartments, etc. where it doesn't happen). Anyway, many kids are getting driven around, then they hop out and ring doorbells. Seems like with all the candy they'll be eating, they should be at least walking around the neighborhood

I'm waiting for the "Drive through" trick or treating where kids don't even have to get interrupted from their DVD's playing in the back seat!

Is it in an area where there are no sidewalks or street lights? If that was the case, being driven around wouldn't be that bad.

Some parents do that cuz their children are too young to be going out alone.. And the parents don't wanna walk around in the cold or for hours.. so they drive them around.. Also sometimes it's too cold.. If you ask me, the whole concept of Hallloween seems pretty stupid.. Or.. Since there's really nothing official about that date.. Move it to summer! Better for the kids.. nice weather.. Sunlight till around 8 or 9 in the evening..

In our area we had kids driving themselves. Yup this group of kids took out on of their parent's golf kart and drove up from house to house.

Isn't October 31 supposed to be the date that the gates between the dead and the living are opened? I remember reading that thats how Halloween came about. Demons would be walking amongst us, so we disguise ourselves by putting on costumes to blend in...someone correct me if I'm wrong. Besides, halloween has the perfect temperature here in SoCal.

There are less and less kids every year actually walking around my neighborhood during Halloween....This past Sunday there were ZERO kids ringing the doorbell....sad, but true....

Oh, and I don't live in what one might consider a bad neighborhood, not in the least bit....but I think that most parents these days would rather take their kids in their cars just to be safer....a LOT of parents I have spoken to are like that apparently, and these are people that live all over the Bay Area and further out....most of them just don't think it's safe out there anymore....so I guess the days I remember as a Trick-or-Treater are long gone....

Didn't have a single kid ring my door bell. Thanks for new subdivisions and no neighbours

I'm just going to have to "regretfully" eat all of that candy myself.

I think we had one person ring the bell.. There's always that one person that doesn't realize that no decorations + All lights off = Not giving out candy!

Some 16-17 year old girl (read: looked 19-20) in a well done catwoman outfit rang my doorbell last night. I almost put the treats aside and showed her a trick!
