Default Dumbest ticket I have ever gotten

I've gotten my fair share of tickets but this one is really stupid. Pulled out of my driveway this morning 3 houses down there was a police car. I put on my seat belt as I start going forward he pulls me over at the end of the block. $70 for not having my seat belt on Can you believe that 3 houses away from home, I told him are you kidding? The car's not even warmed up yet.

I'm going to avoid your neighborhood. Cops sound really uptight over there.

Dan, That's truly amazing. That cop must have had a bad night. Cops need to spend their time preventing and solving REAL crime, instead of harrasing people about some seatbelt law.

Tomorrow (or next time you think you'll see him), put your newly acquired helmet on (and your seatbelt) and drive past him.

Can't you guys in New York talk your way out of a ticket? I usually can, except in virginia with 2 other speeders.

man, you can get out of this.

Say you were fixing it because it didn't seem to work properly.

You could find a lot of reasons why it wasn't on, or why the cop might think it was off. Also why the cop might've thought it was off when it actually was, i.e. It was the cops fault.

Turbo, I think you're the only other person on this whole message board that also has a Saab 9-3, how odd. I don't have an S2k though, I'm working on it.

65% of accidents happen within a few miles of home, not on long trips.
You could have been hit by a truck whilst coming out of your driveway.... buckle up!

LeCar, I agree strongly with you but I think you're being a bit too critical on this one. Obviously the cop who pulled TurboPwr over and issued him a ticket for not wearing his seat belt is being a total jackass and is quite morally wrong if you come to think about it. I would contest it to the very end my friend, there are 101 excuses in the book that you can get away with this with a decent traffic lawyer or even just yourself if you can represent yourself that is.

yeah, maybe I was a bit brutal on that one...
it's just that i've been educated with a very strict seat-belt policy, and the result is that I simply can't be in a car without having it on. I feel naked without it, and even for very short trips (500meters) I buckle up.

That's just a stupid ticket. I bet if you fight it, he won't even show up to court. That borders on harassment.

It's a 50/50 on that. Cops get paid for going to court now, but it's SOOOOO boring to them so they don't unless:

1. It's serious to them or in general (seatbelt laws when their kid died fromnot wearing one, etc etc)

2. HE IS A F**K'N JACKAZZ.

I would still fight it, NO reason not to.

Oh yeah, I have you beat! I got TWO jaywalking tickets. One more and I am going to get 25-life
