Smile ebay AGAIN

First of all let me say I haven't frequented ebay in about a year and a half because I have never had a transaction go as it should and ebay just doesn't seem to care.

I just won a bid on a car. When I contacted the seller he decided he wanted $4,200 more than my winning bid.

I did not find this lising until about 2 hours before it was scheduled to end and the listing showed that his reserve had been reduced and it also said that the next bid would meet reserve. I placed a bid and "won".

When I contacted him he said he didn't know how the reserve had gotten dropped that low. He admitted to reducing the reserve, just not to that level.

I used the Live Help button and spent a frustrating 5 minutes while a double talk agent basically said there was nothing that ebay would or could do and I should just tough it out.

Other than the obvious answer of never using eBay does anyone have any constructive advise on how to get him to honor the bid?

I like the Sopranos much better than bad feedback.

How does bad feedback get him to go ahead and deliver?

If it's a dealer, paint them black on the internet. Start a blog with your saga. Have people constantly call them until they cave in.

I think the most you can do is really leave bad feedback and deal with it. Find another car. I don't think there is a way to "make" the seller sell you the car at the price, other than the threat of bad feedback.

yeah only bad feedback can do it. eventhough it's a "contract" when you win you still are at the mercy of the seller good luck.

A year and a half ago the police department in the small city I lived in outside of Dallas said they got over 1,000 eBay complaints a month.

These weren't complaints like, "ohh it's not working right" but actual criminal complaints.

There should be some way to make people perform &/or rid the world of the scum. I know, I'll sic Denny Crane on them!!!

Bad feedback. If it's a dealer, call the BBB and post a complaint.

if that guy refuses to sell you the car all you can really do is leave bad feedback and move on.....

do you have a link?

i have been on ebay since 1997 and have only had 2 bad experiences out of thousands of purchases and sales (mostly purchases).
