Default Electric impact gun

Trying to think of a xmas gift for myself

I'd like to pick up an electric impact gun for all the DIY stuff I do. I want something of decent quality and decent torque (500 ft. lbs maybe).

Any suggestions?

Of course. Can never go wrong with Snap On. They've got to be a bit pricey though. I haven't been that good this year

Spend the money on a decent air compressor and air hose reeler. That way you can add relatively powerful and light air tools to the gift list. If you have a household 115V 20A circuit you can run up to a real 2 HP model.

I give two thumbs up to Sears' "Pro" 2 HP model, found on sale. Very quiet (by comparison).

I just don't have enough space in my garage for a compressor. All my kid's big toys are stored in the garage .

What I want/need is a impact gun with an extra battery that can be placed on the shelf.

I'm gonna check the local Sears store today.

500lbs of tq is a bit much for a cordless impact.

i have a one year old IR-2530 19V cordless that put out around 300 lb-ft.
i bought it new from the matco guy for about $400. it came with the gun, 2 batteries, charger, 3 piece reversable lug nut socket set all in a blow-molded case.

strap-on...er, i mean snap-on just came out with their new cordless impacts earlier this year. very smooth operation. i think it puts down 350 lb-ft. expect price of the snap-on unit to be around $400 just for the gun, one battery and charger.

300lb-ft of tq is more then enough for almost all the DIY stuff.
i have done suspension work, clutches, and some engine work with my cordless.
the only time i asked too much from my cordless was from when i went to remove a crank pulley bolt from an integra GSR engine. of course my super geneious friend slammed that bolt on with my IR-2135 gun at full strength the last time that crank bolt was out.

the only other cordless impact gun i have experince with was a $20 harbor freight tools gun. it was $20......you get what you pay for.

all guns mentioned above were of 1/2' drive

Meth, nice to hear from you. See if you can come out to one of the Valencia Meets.
