1. Long story short - most of the "Mexicans" in California are FULLY LEGAL CITIZENS who have grown up speaking Spanish, and participating in Mexican, errr California del Norte culture since the 1600's. . . and there was a notable bump in the late 1880's through the 1920s when. . . oh yeah. . .there weren't enough WASPs to get everything built (at a price management prefers). . . just like now. . . which is why we keep importing labor. . .
The Natives were here first (duh), then the Spanish, who brought a few Italians, then the Russians, then the English, then the Colonial pioneers. . . and most importantly, the Robber Barons (God bless 'em).
