If you've had a birth control failure very recently, then get her to a doctor. They can, I believe, prescribe her meds that will prevent a pregnancy.

If she's late, then go to the drug store and get a test.

Try contacting the local Planned Parenthood agency.

Tried "first response" a day after the fact. Came up negative. Can it be trusted so soon?

You can have her take a 'morning after pill' which will prevent pregnancy if the pills are taken within 72 hours of intercourse. You will need to have them prescribed I believe.

I believe tests like 'First Response' will work within a couple days of when a woman's menstrual period is due. I do not think such a test would be reliabe a day after intercourse though.

Also, you can ask her when the first day of her last period was. A woman's most fertile time is about two weeks after their period(when they are ovulating). Chances are, that if her period was due tommorrow, and u had sex today unprotected, she probably would not get pregnant.

If 4 days ago was the first day of her period, then you are probably safe.

If four days ago was the end of her period, then I would be a little bit more concerned.

A woman is most fertile at around day 14 following the first day of her last period. The further from day 14 you had sex, the 'safer' you would be.

Hope that helps somewhat.
