OP, I'd just let her get off the elevator first. I try to keep my etiquette too. Nothing wrong with that. Just trying to bring being a gentleman back in style.
Holy crap are you right about people leaving first THEN people can get on. Its not that big of a deal, if it is, take the damn stairs!

Only elevator etiquette I'm aware of is people inside exit first, and then people outside come in. But HOLY SHIT is that hard for people to understand sometimes. I usually walk out the elevator first, quickly, just in case there are people right in front of the door.
