Are Europeans "lazy"?
first of all, i don't mean this in a negative way. my sales staff had a meeting with a MAJOR worldwide retailer the other day, and they reported back to me why this retailer buyer didn't want to buy (simple basket that required assembly) this new basket we had produced: "we (the retail buyer) think the Europeans are too lazy to put this basket together, so we won't buy it."
it's an all purpose basket that would hold groceries, magazines, etc. and it's extremely easy to put together. are there any basis for his reasoning or was he just blowing us off?

I don't think that it is a case of being "lazy", just a case of the fact that they can probably buy one already assembled for marginally more $$.
Self assembly items in Europe got a pretty bad name, I guess in the 1970's, when manufacturers were putting out self assembly furniture very cheap, which fell apart after about a year !!
