Fave places to drive? Post 'em up!
I went to Dunkin' Donuts this morning and was struck by this huge ball of burning yellow gas that I saw in the sky.....oh right, it's just the sun shining. I forgot what that looked like
Now I have spring fever wicked bad
Where are YOUR fave places to drive? Anywhere! Post 'em up!
My faves:
Around Boston, the river roads, especially Storrow or Mem. Drive. Great view of the water, lots of twists and turns, and plenty of unexpected things like "left exits" to make any stranger's first drive in Boston a memorable thing.
Another fave:
Colonial Parkway, in Virginia. Runs from Jamestown to Williamsburg to Yorktown. A true three lane highway with no lines on the pavement and no ligths anywhere (for historical reasons). Gorgeous river and park views by day, a blast to drive at night. Haven't yet found anything like it.
Anyone else?

Minnesota Highway 1 from Ely to the shore of Lake Superior. Beautiful woods, no traffic, all curves.
Missouri highway 160 through the southern part of the state. Ozark mountains, smooth pavement, all curves, all woods.
US 61 from the Twin Cities all the way down into Missouri - and maybe further. Follows the river. Bald eagles by the dozen in Wabasha, backwaters, cliffs, tow boats, barges, old river towns, paddle boats.
