I just meant that Widmer has the pouring instructions. Something along the lines of pour 75% of the beer into a pint glass at an angle. Then swirl bottle to release the goodness and pour straight down in to glass.
Funny all th different beer preferences. I saw labatts blue and immediately though WTF, carlings black lable.
But seriously I was an assitand brewmaster in another life and most things that people "know" about beer is sheer nonsense. I was fortunate to work with some pros who started at Coors and moved elsewhere. Beer making is a straight science. Pick the color, balance, front and back end flavors, manage the yeast properly, and be consistent with the QC.
So when I see local beer, well most brewpubs can't make a decent beer to save their lives, the exception in the PNW mainly around Seattle. Even very famous beers are pure shite, from the get go with piles of junk additives ranging from rice to sweeteners (Steam and NBB), or because of lousy shipping and handling (most beers).
One of my jobs was to run our competitor's beers and ours at 5C and 15C for 3-4 weeks, testing once a week, and run plates. Other than our own beer, the only beer that could even pass under refrigeration were the big 3. When kept at room temperature, virtually all the small-med breweries had contamination from bacterial overgrowth. This is not the SN plae ale faxy secondary bottle fermentation, or the real belgian trappis style, but mixed culture fetid flocs.
Most North Coast, Lagunitas, Avery, Bear Republic, some Flyn dog, Moylan, Anderson beers are on my list. I'll drink pils in europe from the tap, but that definitely is a beer that doesn't travel or bottle very well. Same for kolch, which I don't care for that much.

Dogfish Head - 120 Minute IPA is by far the best beer I have tasted. All the Dogfish brews are excellent but the 120 Minute IPA is just nirvana. At 20% alcohol & $10 for a 12 ounce bottle, I recommend a brandy snifter and slow sipping. I try to drink a bottle a week of this to remind me how good life is.

I thought Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale was strong (~9.5%)...
20%??? WTF???
Where can I get some of that stuff?
^^^ yup tell me about it, I've been DYING to try a dogfish head brew but no one seems to carry it. (Ive dusted every isle at bevmo and couldnt find it-i guess it depends on the store..) Skibum is SO LUCKY!! I've heard its incredibly hoppy though (not really my style) but nonetheless I really want to try that d*mn beer!!
As for me, the best beer I've ever had was this:
By FAR. not cheap though as a sixer set me back $120 shipped from belgium
But as for everyday beers, I love this:
< a monk beer at a reasonablish price
I also love La Fin Du Monde (very unique taste), Duvel, and pretty much anything else with a high abv.
here is a great site if you want to learn more about THE TRUE UNDERRATED GREATNESS of a great beer. http://beeradvocate.com/ <pretty much teaches u how to be a beer snob
keep em coming!
