Default Ferrari's, Porsche's and the superexotics.

Hey there guys. I been wondering something about superexotics cars. It seems these days makers like Ford and other companies are seeming to approach supercar terriotry performance costing 3 times less. Are really Porsche and Ferrari's really that much better then other "lower" car manufacturers? I don't mean to offend anyone just I am curious why you pay so much for something but performance is somewhat the same.... If anyone can give me insight on this matter I will appreciate it. Also Steve C, you own a 911TT can you tell me the performance of the car?

I truly believe Ferrari's and Porsche's are up there for a reason, but yet I can't seem to find the "reason" why....

-Thanks
Alan

I am pretty sure 550hp (Ford GT) is also a blast to drive.

Simple answer: because of their status.

Is any exotic worth the money? No! But the rich have money and they can spend on whatever they desire regardless of worth. To the poor, a car is a mere transportation and shouldn't cost too much. To the rich, cars are toys and entertainment.

...so to follow your reasoning, the S2000 isn't worth the money.

Nope, because it's not a convenient vehicle. It's also part "toy". But then again, it is only $33K, not over $100K. Btw, I was talking about "exotics", which normally cost much more than $100K. At that point, it's not about worth anymore, it's about privilege.

...but I'm sure there are some "poor" people that think $33K is alot of money for a car (especially one with only two seats)...and hence, not worth the $.

...personally, I think the S2000 is worth the money...and if I was in a higher tax bracket I would think that the 360 Modena would be worth the money...and an even higher one I would buy an Enzo or McLaren F1 and still think that I got good value for my money....but, I can only dream about that!

I'm sure that's true. And that's my point.
