Default finally a good Idea from the DMV

The Corvette Clubs in New Brunswick Canada have been lobbing the provincial goverment, to do something with the front licence plate law. The solution they came up with was for a small fee, you could use a "seasonal plate" that is only good for the spring/summer/fall months, but you only require a rear plate.

Does any other state or pronvince have such a thing? Or we on the leading edge for once?

That sure would be great to have a seasonal plate. But I live in Colorado and I don't see this flying here anytime soon. Our state charges you $25 per month, up to $100 on top of your vehicle registration if you don't renew within the renewal time period.

Most county or state roads here in Colorado are funded by our vehicle registration fees, so, I don't see them passing something that would reduce registration fees.

But props to you guys for getting this passed.

They still get our registration fee, plus $25 for the seasonal plate, that goes to Conservation Programs.

We in Alberta don't have the issue because the Province has abandoned the use of front plates completely (for many years now). That is the ulitmate answer for all Sates and Provinces in my view.

The front plate is reflective and makes a nice target for a laser. It is all about revenue generation.

The argument for front plates in New Brunswick has to do with school bus drivers reporting people that dont stop at the flashing lights. A big NO NO here, and should be.

As far as revenue generation I'd gladly pay a yearly fee to not have a front plate. I'd be willing to be a substantial number of fellow enthusiasts would be willing to do the same. I'd settle for the seasonal plate thing too though...better than nothing.

Texas currently requires two plates, the repeal legislation is tied up currently and hopefully will be on the books this fall.

Are the bus drivers trained to read the numbers backwards fast?
