Thumbs up Financial Calculators

I am trying to find the best financial calculator.

I do not know which to pick, the HP 12C Platnium, HP 17bII+, or the Ti BA II Plus Pro.

I like the 17bII+ because of the solve funtion which can come in handy and is an HP with all of the functions of the 12C, the Ti BA II Plus Pro is very fast, and the 12C Platnium is a newer version of the 12C which is tried and true, any thoughts of these guys?

Most of my co-workers and former classmates swear by the HP. However, I and the rest of my co-workers use the TI BA II Plus. Its does almost everything the HP does and IMO is easier to use for basic/most utilized functions (i.e., PV, FV, Amort and IRR calculations).

By the way, the TI is so inexpensive that you should give it shot. If you don't like it, you can always switch to the HP without losing a lot of cash.

Get either the TI or HP model that is allowed on the CFA exam.

Those are the only two types of calculators I see at work. I use the HP12C myself because I like the post-fix notation and because it's the most popular calculator I see, although some people use the TI because it's a better calculator (although either satisfies for day to day use). You don't really need a uber-powerful calculator because you'll want to use Excel for any serious analysis anyways.

I've got an old TI BAII Plus that's at least 10 years old. I would say get whatever is it's current replacement. It was also called Advanced Business Analyst.
