Default First V8 NC Miata ever done!

I was at a car meet and saw this awesome NC Miata, what do you guys think?

I am not a fan of the newer body styles, but I think it would be a very fun car!

You should check out the site for "monster miata". They are manly older model Mostar but still pretty cool.

gm ls hands down, i've been thinking about doing this to a 1st gen, i've done research and all you'll gain engine wise is 200lbs, add the lightweight subframe you'll lose at least 50, the stock 1991 has a curb weight of 2100 lbs, with the ls you have a car with a weight of 2300, and a minimum of 305 hp thats a power to weight of 7.54:1 that supercar territory .......i want one

All the weight in a aluminum block ls1 is behind the wheel on the miata, so it ends up being very close to 50/50 and your handling is awesome still.

The 1.6l in the miata is VERY heavy I think the ls1 is only 60-100lbs more than the 1.6l and like I said it dosnt throw off things to much since its pretty much balanced in the center of the car.

I <3 bastard swaps. I REALLY want a V8 240SX or Miata. An S2k would be really awesome... But can the OEM gauge cluster be retained?

From what I've heard, people have done the swap a fully functional OEM cluster. I haven't looked into it though, so I don't know the details.
