first video you saw on the tele?
"is that a Twisted Sister button on your uniform?" had to download this video to see Dee Snider dressed up as a clown before the PMRC started making him a poster child for their censorship plans.
What was the first video you remember seeing on MTV/VH1 or...(god forbid I mention this but) Friday Night Videos?
A few come to mind, Twisted Sister, Van Halen and of course, Madonna's "material girl".

Whip It! by Devo.
We didn't have MTV up here, only on the dish if you were lucky enough to have it.
We did have Friday Night Videos however.
We also had Toronto Rocks, hosted by the now famous JD Roberts. You know the CBS lead Washington Corespondent? Yes he was a long haired geek for a long time showing videos on channel 57 (cable 7) in Toronto.
I'm sure he's trying to forget that.

since i didn't make it over here until 1985, my very first MTV video was "Shout" by Tears for Fears, one of my all time favorite band
btw, i used to work for a very cool dude who ran the production company that produced over 80% of the music videos you saw in the 80s
