Benchmade - I have a bunch of knives - for the everyday carry - I still like my 840 Ascent best.

I don't think the S&W knives are in the same class from a quality standpoint. I have an auto S&W and it's o.k.

I picked up a SOG Flash and it's pretty nice too.

My next "nice" knife will be a Microtech.

Emerson, with the tab that catches on your pocket as you remove it. Faster than a switchblade.

Spyderco or CRKT (Colorado Knife and Tool) make the best folding knives bar none.

I second Benchmade. I've had my mini AFCK for many years now and it's just as sharp as ever.

I have this Microtech Socom Manual with Tanto blade and serrations. Kick ass knife and lifetime factory warranty to boot. My idiot friend broke the tip off of it and I sent it in and the the factory fixed and sharpened it free of charge.

Lousy picture of mine...

My dad and I both have Gerber Gators. They have excellent grips and razor-sharp blades. You really can't beat that grip...you shouldn't go out and buy a knife without first holding one of these. They come in different sizes too so that won't be a problem.

If you live in Oregon or are military/law enforcement....

I have the 9500SBT. They are costly...I paid $130 for mine at a gun show. I love it, but is by definition a switchblade. I live about 15 mins from the factory...they do free sharpening for local visits and $5 for mail in.
