found old video of me skateboarding in 1998.
Great thread and nice vid
I skated non stop (Every spare minute) from about 1988 until about 1994, then off and on after that, but not nearly enough. Still get out and play around a bit. When my son was about 15 or 16 I took him and his friends to the skatepark and taught them how to skate miniramps, which was fun, but reminded me why I should not have stopped. Still consider myself a skater for life even though I hardly do it
I actually am tossing around the idea of building a mini in the backyard to have fun on. I skated a lot of street back in the day, but we built a mini ramp (well, at that time a mini ramp was about 7 feet and just short of vert) that was 7 feet to the lip and had 9 foot tall vert extensions on each side. Took a while and a lot of us to get the funds together. Later moved it to a friends who's family had money to spend so we added lights and new masonite. Miss those days!
I am not super impressed with how the sport has gone personally. When I skated, if you saw skaters, you hung out. It was more about the whole package of skating and the lifestyle. Now you see little cliques of skaters who hate on one another like pissy little wannabe gang members at the parks. And at the free public parks, they just hang around and look like skaters and rarely skate. Very sad. When I skated you did not hear of free public skateparks unless you lived in CA at best. Now they all complain because the 3 city built public skateparks near us (and thats just within a 10 mi radius) are not good enough. Serioulsy???
One board sport I do a lot these days, well, in the winter, is snowboard. I go every weekend to the smaller areas near us (not mountains, but enough runs to have a blast on) and then try to hit lutsen up in northern MN as well in the winter. Planning at CO trip for next winter, especially now that I have gotten my wife into skiing so we can go together.

And to add to my post above, I just found a youtube user that has the whole Reason For Living soundtrack on his list. Back in the day, that was one of my favorite skate vid soundtracks and it brings back tons of memories hearing it!
