Default Fraud buyer from England?

Hey guys... Okay let me ask you guys something...

I am currently selling my 1991 Toyota Celica GT, 193,xxx miles and with a dent on the driver's side of the car for $1,200 or best offer..

I posted it up on facebook at market place and there was someone who wanted to buy it. That person asked me how much for the final price and I said $1,200. He said that he's okay with the price and told me to keep contact with him on his yahoo email. He also said that he will be sending me to the check today. I was like wow, that's kind of fishy... so I checked his facebook profile and yahoo email.. It was signed up not too long ago. On his facebook he have no friends or anything so I'm thinking that someobody is playing a joke on me...?

But the funny thing is that he sent me a email saying that after I've cashed the check.. Reply back to him to notified him that I've received the check so he can rearrange a shipping company to come and pick up the car.

He told me that he lives in London, England.. I was like WTF?? I told him that "do you know that I live in the U.S.? He say yes... I mean wtf? My car is normal and cheap with a dent on it. Why would anyone want to ship a shitty car like my celica to England? Don't you guys see something is wrong? I mean, he can't rip me off because I will receive the money before he tow my car away.. I don't know what this guys is doing. How much is it to export a car from USA to England anyways?

So do you guys think this is a fraud or is he really serious?

You seriously think someone would want that car bad enough to have it shipped from the U.S. to England? Shipping costs are more then the car is worth. This is 100% scam.

Gee.... don't even bother cashing the check. It's gonna clear now. After a while your banks gonna come back and nail you because the check was fraud. Like everyone said. Unless you see pigs flying outside. Better hold on to that car and sell it to someone in person.

Why don't you have a few friends chip in and buy it, then modify it with a sawzall and race it around town with no panels.

I wouldn't trust it. Don't even waste your time.

I had a similar experience but I was the buyer. The buyer told me he wanted to keep in touch the whole time, he even called me. I sent the money (I was buying an iPhone when they first came out) and never heard back from the guy. I tried calling the number after the money was sent and it had already been disconnected. Luckily I explained everything to my credit union and they refunded me the money.

I wouldn't try it either because even if the check clears the buyer can stop the check within 48 hours (at least that is what my bank told me) and you would have not have the funds in your account anymore or the car if you shipped it already. People run this scam on Craigslist all the time with similar details such as shipping the car and sending you the check because they are overseas in England... don't even waste your time with this scumbag...
