Default Freestyle BMX

Anybody here into it?Used to do it when I was younger till I got fat,but since I'm in better shape now than I was when I was 14-17 I'd like to try and get back into it.

However after looking into the selection of bikes available it's a bit overwhelming.
like to keep it in the $500-$700 with gear and really not sure where to start, any help is appreciated.

Right on! I still have my orginal membership card and t-shirt from 1980-something. I gave my bike to my cousin many, many years ago. Boy, do I ever regret doing that.

Just buy a bike. Don't spend more than ~$300 for one with one piece cranks, and then get some 3-piece cranks for ~$150-200. You don't need a "freestyle" bike if you haven't even been riding - you will just look like a fool with more money than sense.

I'd stay away from a racing model, but other than that, there's not that big a difference once you add pegs and a gyro.

http://www.danscomp.com/ for browsing. You would be smart to go to a local shop and find something by talking to the staff. It's not like you are going to be doing anything crazy for a long time anyway - you need to build up your skills and fitness before taking the Gold at the x-games So don't drop money on the most decked out ride money can buy.

I used to Freestyle when I was really young, now I ride Downhill/Freeride. I'm just too big to fit on a BMX now (6'3") ...Freeride/Downhill bikes are WAY up there in price though

I still ride and I still have my bike.I don't think I could ever part with it,it's too rare now(1983 Skyway TA).I was never into freestyle/flatland,I was more into street riding and dirt jumping.

I use to be into Freestyle BMX several years ago. I had a GT vertigo, and a Haro Flair for frames. Nothing to crazy. Deffinately buy from DansComp. You can get some good deals there.
