Default Friend took me on a reward trip.

Friend of mine won a trip thru this employer. He didnt have to spend any $ to go on the trip. It was a good trip.
Im guessing the trip would have cost me around $3500 to do on my own.
I was thinking I might do something nice for him as a thank you gift.
Any ideas on what $ limit I should use?

You're buddies he wanted someone to go with (I'm assuming) or (possibly) if you're a couple then that's what couples do. Either way just return the favor when and if you can. You go out pick up the tab. He's been talking about buyig something buy it for him. You don't have to match the cash, you should however feel like its your turn to contibute to the friendship/relationship.

also, did you take photos on the trip? one thing you could do is put together a nice photo album w/the pics you took and give it to him as a present. doesn't cost $$$$ but is a thoughful way of thanking him

i wouldnt expect anything but a thank you and maybe a meal paid for. I invite my buddies to free shit i get all the time and all i expect is a thanks

of course if they feel they should give me something back i'd feel a little bad but i'd accept it in the end.

Hes just a buddy. Im married. He is hopelessly single.
The food on the trip didnt agree with him and he spent a lot of time in the WC so Im going to send him a carbon fiber toilet seat from Griots.
It will be worth a good laugh and everytime he sees it he will think of the trip.

Yeah, that sounds like a cool idea.

You can also think of it this way... you were his company. He wanted a friend to come along so he wasn't bored off his ass the whole time, so you've really already done what's required.
