I saw that on the TV in the gym this morning. Something like $80 for that watermelon, normally $15-$20 for a watermelon. Japan is expensive.

nah..a "gift-o" cantaloupe in tokyo takashima-ya food court can be us$150.00++....but even out in the countryside a good seedless watermelon at the local "supah"can easily exceed us$20.00.

That's a very innovative idea. However, if they are going to charge $82 for a watermelon, it better be one damn good melon. I'm talking lighting shooting out of your ears good.

I am absolutely and totally OUTRAGED. How would you like it if I put your cat or dog inside a box when they're at their growth spurt just so I could market square cats and dogs. How about square lab rats, square rabbits, square guinea pigs, etc. They will pay!!!!

There are a lot of watermelon farms in this area of Florida. Today I stopped at a field where they were harvesting and loading into trucks to go north. Asked if I could buy one. They said sure. Got a huge round "cannon ball" melon for $1.00. It does take a lot of space in the fridge though. Secret is to chill it overnight and then eat it all at one setting thus freeing up space. Repeat as needed.
