gay club advice
all bullsh!t aside, i was actually thinking about gettin my bartending liscense and bartending at the wave. not gay, never will be gay but have been hit on but a handful of guy dudes and it doesnt bother me. i'm pretty sure i;d make bank on tips alone.
if you're comfortable with your sexuality i'd say go for it. its a job, you're not sleeping with the dudes, you just have to have a high tolerance for the obnoxious comments you will recieve.

My opinion is if you are well built, in shape, friendly, pick the right gay club and can handle the stress and comments you will make MAD bank!! I've known several gay and straight bartenders and the gay dance clubs ALWAYS pay better! Even at some of the crappy ones you can still make descent $$$.
they must really "like you" if they are willing to pay to train you. Are you saying that you have no experience bartending and they offered you the job?
your family thinking odd of the situation is another issue entirely. If there is too much stigma surrounding the job it may cause drama in the family. If you can work through that and have the chops to be a good bartender then you can make good $$.
if you have no prior tending experience you may not be cut out to work a bar efficiently (even with training on how to make drinks) there is a knack to it just like any other trade or skill
