It's been over ten years since I finished college, but I think my internship is what got me a lot of interviews. I not only got offered a job by the company I interned with, I got hired by a big company that basically told me it was my internship that got me the job. You really need to try and find an internship for this summer.

Too late. Most businesses interview (at least it the Finance industry) for summer/fall internships in January/February... and "hire" by March (even though you don't work 'till summer)

If you are one who takes no for an answer you might as well already give up.

You may be correct for most, but it wouldn't hurt for him to try. I know I interviewed with a company in March but wasn't offered the position because they wanted someone who would be able to work there throughout the school year as well and I couldn't because my school was about 90 miles away. They still liked me and called me in May and offered me a different position that had just opened up. I put in my two weeks notice at the crappier internship I was already at and went over there.

Not to be a jerk but there are a ton of accountants and finance people with a boatload of experience out of work right now. You need some high-level industry experience and/or additional education to even get your foot in the door of a respectable place.

finding a job with business mgmt is really tough right now. I graduated in Dec with a 4.0. Cant even get interviews,

That degree does not specialize you in anything. Your not really trained to do something.

Its not like you become a manager right out of college because you studied Bus. Mgmt.

I really think they shouldnt even allow that degree. If you want a job and career in business go with ACCOUNTING OR FINANCE. take my word for it.

100% correct. I graduated with a BusMgmt degree and it was rough going when i graduated back in 95. I can't imagine how difficult it is now.

Major in accounting and get your CPA.

Check with your University, they usually have "community outreach" programs like Small Business development centers or economic development/research programs that employ a wide variety of skills and degrees.

If your having a hard time in the private sector consider non-profit or government organizations as great alternative.

As mentioned before networking is very important. I talked to many professors, peers, and career advisers at my school + attended many local chamber of commerce meetings, and career fairs at my school, other schools locally and in neighboring cities.
