Default Go Annika!

I'm amazed at how well she is handling the pressure and the golf course.

So far she's hit every fairway and and all but one green. I wish I could play like that.

1 over par, middle of the pack. Good round for her, I'd say. I really don't know why some folks were so threatened by her- except, as a guy, I do hate it when a woman passes me in a race. Still, you'd think Vijay wouldn't be very likely to finish behind her. I can't believe that some PGA members want to exclude women from tourneys- its not as if women are a real threat. Annika is a machine, THE dominant player on the LPGA, and she did well to play about as well as middle of the field did today. And that BS about her taking a slot away from someone else- well, that's what sponsor exemptions are all about. As someone pointed out, when Nicklaus and all of his sons got exemptions recently, those slots could have gone to someone else, but there was no criticism of them then. Did the guys she was paired up with finish ahead or behind her?

Paaaaaaaalllllease. It is a man's tour plain and simple.

If this is your argument then why can't the men go DOMINATE the LPGA and take all of their prize money every week. Also this is simply a matter of timing and a HUGE marketing gimmick. She is just lucky she is the top player on the LPGA tour right now and was invited to be the first woman to play on the men's tour in awhile. Right place at the right time. Three years ago it would be Karie Webb in her shoes and not Annika. It's all about appearance though when it comes to the media. Annika is more physically "fit" and looks better in terms of superficial standardness than Karie does.

She had a lot of looks at birdie today. I can't believe how repetitive and simple her swing is. She hits the ball very straight.

I wouldn't be threatned by her if I was on tour. She said herself last night that she wouldn't be competitive on 90 or 95% of the courses the men play on. She knows she doesn't truly belong on this tour. This tournament is more about accuracy and ball striking than the power game. It's only a par 70 at 7080 yards. Most experts thought it would play about a par 72 for her. She still has some work to do to make the cut.

I would agree with her competing with the men if there was no tour for women, but their is a tour for women. Although, golf isn't really a sport in which men are clearly superior due to speed or strength since it is more of a game of technique. But I still don't really want her playing.

The ironic thing in my household is that my wife doesn't agree with Annika's playing with the boys at all.

I think it's pretty cool. I sure wish I could play like that!

The PGA doesn't have gender restrictions (yet) The LPGA is for players "born female"

Regarding "taking a spot" - Who is putting up the money that these whiners are playing for? That's right - the sponsors. Why shouldn't sponsors have whomever they want in the tournament? It's a lot more fun watching Annika than it is some guy who barely can hold his tour card. I could give a sh!t about the number 123 guy on the tour...

For that matter... why does the US tour have so many "exempt" players? I believe that the quality would be better if there were fewer exempt positions on the tour...
