I agree, however, I have to add "regularly" go to the bar alone. Doing it a couple times out of boredom is ok in my book. Especially if they have pool tables

Alright, I'm an out-and-out barfly. Through a few portions of my 20's, I was easily classifiable as a "functional alchoholic." Probably still am, but I drink considerably less now. . .

DO NOT GO TO BARS AND CLUBS TO MEET CHICKS. If you happen to meet a chick at a bar, remember, you met her at a bar.

DO NOT GO TO BARS TO MAKE FRIENDS. If you happen to make friends there, far out. Bear in mind though, the friends you make there are your "drinking buddies;" you met them at a bar. Alcohol will be at the center of EVERY social function with these people. It's great if you have the constitution, but it's not so great on your time, wallet, and your health.

GPMike pretty much stumbled upon the magic formula: when he traveled, he had, whether he willed it or not, had an air of mystery behind him. Chicks dig this. . .

You can do it in your local area. Piece of cake. You know that nice part of town, where the handful of wealthy folks live? Find a nice restaurant there. Around 9pm, roll in there, dressed well, but not too formally, and hang out at the bar. Bring a copy of The Economist. Sit down, order a martini, a Manhattan, or a neat Scotch. Take your time, and just watch and learn.

Be mysterious.

I go to the bars/clubs by myself all the time. In fact, I usually have more success picking up women by myself. I go at a faster pace (don't have to care about an entire set being good for the group), there is no competition for the hot chick in the group either hehe. Chicks actually feel more comfortable talking to guys that are by themselves too. There's less pressure, it's not like a pack of wolves moving in. They also tend to think you must have something going on if you have enough confidence to go out by yourself. Just go have fun, and if you are they shy type, start by talking to some other guys that look like they're checking out the women too. It'll help get your social juices going, and who knows you might meet a good wing man. The greatest thing about going out by yourself if you're new to picking up women is that no one is there to see if you get shot down, which is really the worst that thing that can happen. So if there's no one there to make you feel bad, might as well go balls to the wall and talk to every woman there. Just be smart about your approaches and learn something from each one.

Find a club (activity club, not drinking club) or co-ed sports league. Or just make myspace friends.

On my last business trip to Arizona, I decided to go bar hopping by myself and it was actually a lot more fun than when I would have gone with my friends

I think that it is natural human nature to be intimidated by a group of people that out numbers you.

at least that is what I found when I went out. Cause, I had a lot of ppl in general just being overall friendlier to me, and that was pretty cool

Good luck!!
