Going to Boston this week
the wife and i are heading up to Boston on Wednesday for three days. it's our anniversary and we like to go on little trips to get away. we've never been there so to anyone that lives there or has been there, what are the best things to do?
there's no RedSox game or i'd do that. we were thinking, Freedom Trail, check out the Public Garden and Boston Common (parks), Cheers bar, maybe the Aquarium. what are the best markets and stuff to check out?
thanks.

If the weather is nice, Boston is a great place to walk.
I second the Boston Public Gardens (http://www.cityofboston.gov/Parks/em...lic_garden.asp) and Boston Commons (http://www.cityofboston.gov/Parks/em...ton_common.asp).
The New England Aquarium is great (www.neaq.org).
Faneuil Hall (www.faneuilhallmarketplace.com) area is very commercial/touristy but you should visit it.
If you like seafood & a dive-bar atmosphere, Barking Crab (www.barkingcrab.com) has some of the best fried seafood you'll find. Belly clams & house-brew.
Again, if the weather is nice, I would get to either Harvard or MIT. Great architecture and grounds. Try to take a tour of the grounds.
Freedom Trail is ok but you'll wind up in the North-End (Italian section). You'll find some great food in the North-End (www.northendboston.com).
Some people say it is ghey, but the Duck Tour is a great way to see the city (www.bostonducktours.com)
If your a sports fan, I would take the tour of Fenway Park. I hate the Red Sox but Fenway is a piece of history.
Lastly, I always check out TripAdvisor when going to a new city. They generally have good reviews. (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractio...achusetts.html)

Boston is a great city. I try to get up for a Sox or Bruins game each year.
One other place to visit...New England Holocaust Memorial (www.nehm.com). Try to go in the evening (darker the better). A very powerful piece of architecture.

Skip cheers, the one in fanail hall is fake and a torist trap, the real one is outside of town but only used for the "fa-saud"
