Right now since $1 dollar is equal to B33 (baht). There could be a few things that might seem 'cheap' but could be more expensive since the dollar dropped.

The Sheraton is considered to be very high class and luxurious in every way. That is about B7,436 (baht); which equals to about $200+ a night unless you can deal with them or haggle. (it's good to make an english speaking thai friend, so you don't get ripped off).

Pattaya is nice during the morning; but stay close to the hotel chains, because then the lady boy and hookers don't swarm over you.

But I think Koh Samui is beautiful in everyway. The best photos you can snap there.

In Koh Samui, there are many beautiful hotels there that doesnt even need to be "chained". (http://www.kosamui.com/beaches/index.html) I recommend a few hotels from that site, but look at it in person first because it's been a few years since I have been back). Santhiya Resort is very beautiful and super awesome. Lots of things to see there.

IF you also have time; I would suggest Kanchanaburi, it's more of a river area instead of beaches. But beautiful things to see there; a few great resorts/hotels.
- River Kwai Resort
- Pung Waan Resort & Spa Kwai Yai
There was one more; but I forgot. It was an awesome resort, the school took us there for a three day weekend. There was boating, biking, walking, photo shoots, beautiful rooms and the freshest of fresh air.

Chiang Mai; you'd want to visit Mae-Rim in the mountains where Queen Sirikit's Botanical Gardens are. Over there, is many country life, elephant rides, snake farm, elephant farms, buffalo sightings, etc. etc. and farms & a monkey training camp. On the other side of Mae-Rim, there is a road that would take you to Doi Suthep. One of the most memorable temples and oldest temples in Chiang Mai. It's up in the mountains where it looks like an 'Initial D' cliff drift roads. I can guarantee that you would probably like that including the way there. My grandfather help build the temple and it's really a sight to see. Also, when in Chiang Mai, many of the market places sell fresh produce (only way to tell if they have bags that distract the bugs away). If you see beautiful produce with no bugs around it; it's been sprayed.

Food is always so delicious there, many people sell their food in the market places or on the corners; those are the place to go for a good and cheap eat. There are some places that sell you a bowl of beef ball noodles for B5 (baht), not even a penny.

When in Thailand there are different types of food in different regions. For the Northern Thai's they love spicy, tangy, herb and sweet. In Bangkok is a fast food place; but more of spicy, sweet, tangy. Down south is salty, dry, spicy.

The department stores in Thailand are very fun too if you have shoppers. The price if calculated when I was there; would have been the cheapest things to buy. If you buy counterfeit items, just be sure to hide them in your pocket and triple wrap your clothing in the suitcase.

In Koh Samui; go on the banana boat ride, super fun! (Jet ski's pulling this inflated banana with like 15 people on it going about 35miles/hr.) Or cliff diving, etc.

Many night lifes in Bangkok, but beware again. Sometimes over there lady-boys or even women will drug tourist so watch who pours your drink and who opens it; it's faulty there so even bartenders can drug ya.

Bangkok, it's pretty nice to see new things there, if you want to see an actual mall; my uncle and a few family members have opened a place called "Siam Paragon" VERY nice malls & loads of cool things.
- MBK = another mall that sells all kinds of bootlegs and actual real mobile phones for cheap (all unlocked). MBK is an electronics mall on the 3rd or 5th floor. Lots of clothing and copied brand name purses/wallets, etc. Movies too.
- Siam Discovery = pretty cool, most of these malls are all connected to each other. So you can walk anywhere. If you want you can also take the BTS which is a really fun sky train. B35 (baht) per trip to where ever (it connects to the major places that locals and tourist normally go). Emporium is pretty cool but it's like the Gucci, LV, mall.
- Then there are many places called 'Robinson' or 'Central.' Those are department stores; really fun too lol.

IF you go to a place called 'Khao San Road' beware. That is where many tourist go and many hookers are. That place is very disgusting to me. I call it STD central. But I hope many of these tips help hahaha. If you need more just ask.

A buddy of mine went to Thailand with his brother and man oh man was there tons of hookers and trannies. The thought of that is just a turn off for me. My buddy did say the food on the street is so much better than the big chains.

i backpacked thailand for 2 months. lots of fun. what's best depends on time of year because of monsoon season.

chaing mai was over-rated...bunch of tourists doing fake thai things, like visiting local tribes in the forest and riding elephants. spent 7 days there and did everything...booooooring.

phi phi island is beautiful. ko samui is beautiful. phuket's nice. railay island for rock climbing. maybe fly to cambodia to see ankor wat temples (one of the most amazing things i've seen in my life). bangkok's fun for hanging out and being a tourist. maybe go full moon partying in the south?

pataya is nasty, too.

It's 3 guys and 3 girls so no dirty stuff for me.

Damnit, I regret signing up for the travel agency package cause now I want to skip Pattaya and go to Ko Samui!
