Default Golf Irons: What do you use?

I'm finally looking to get a new set of irons after 10 years! The same set I was using in High School, some golf course pro shop 'name' brand. Not even sure what it is anymore.

So what clubs are you all using, or want to get, etc.?

Thanks!

I've been playing with the same set of Mizuno MP29's for the past ten years so I'm not sure what's current.

Mine are a true blade and not as forgiving as a cavity back but I would say with Titelist, Mizuno, Ping, or Taylor Made irons you really can't go wrong these days.

make sure you get the right club for your game...don't get blades if you are a high handicapper. The proper style of head and an appropriate shaft are extremely important...don't base too much of your decision on manufacturer.

Depends on the level of you game. If your a mid- to high-handicap, I would lean towards a 'game-improvment' or hybrid set. I'm in the market myself - - - currently using Taylor Made Burner Oversize (circa 1996) and have been hitting alot of clubs.

My favorites of the ones I've hit include:
Ping G2 EZ/HL
Nike Slingshot irons with CPR hybrids
Callaway BB Fairway Woods (mixed woods 3 thru 13) w/ Big Bertha Irons

I'm leaning towards keeping my current set of Taylor Made 200 Steels Woods (3,5,7,9) - - - the greatest fairway wood, period - - - and adding a set of Ping G2 EZ.

What ever you get, I would recommend that you get them professionally fitted. Most 'better' golf shops will fit you for free if you buy the clubs from them. I didn't think it made big difference until I hit the same 6 iron with different lie and shaft lengths and flex.

I think 'MistaSnipes' owns/works at a golf shop, you might want to check in with him.

I suck now, but i used to be pretty decent when I was playing a lot. I'm sure i'll get back into the swing of things, so I wouldn't want to buy a club that might limit me...But i'll try and hit some this weekend at the range and see what style suits me best.

Thanks

For a decently priced set of irons, I use the Wilson Deep Red's. They have fat shaft versions for it as well. You can buy the Deep Red II's for about 300. They go alot cheaper on ebay.

go see your local pro and pay to get your swing analyzed...they will give you some good feedback on what types of irons to buy!

Calaway X-14irons. Not the same great results as CK- but I do like them a lot. Cavity back semms to be the way to go the the for the HIGH h/c folks like me. These clubs make e much better than I really am......

Calaway Steelhead driver and other assoc bats......
