Well...the average flute will hold between 6 and 8 1/2 oz, so average to 7 (most people dont fill them up at weddings)....

Depends on how you pour....a standard bottle (12 to a case) is 750ml, which is 25.3xxx fluid oz.

For toasts, you pour 1/2 the flute, so you'll get 8. For drinking, about 4-6, depending on the pour.

There's a region just outside of Champagne that produces a bunch of Methode Champanois that's about half the price of Champagne. I can't remember it right off the top of my head: my favorite being a bottle that drinks like Veuve NV but it's $11 a bottle.

Otherwise, take a look at Proseccos, and a bunch of the Californian and Oregon sparklers.

Roerder Estate and Chandon both have California wineries that produce pretty decent bubbly for about $20 a bottle.

at my sisters wedding, she had Korbel. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and it can be had for about $15/bottle I believe...

I was going to suggest Korbel at around $14 a bottle here. However, of all the weddings/receptions I've been to I can't recall one where I remember the quality of the champagne of all things.

With that in mind, MD 20/20 and seltzer water is probably your cheapest option

I honestly, recommend Domaine Chandon. Its cheap (can be had for less than $12 a bottle if bought by the case), and sounds like a premium brand. All brands like Korbel, Mumm, etc etc have a stigma attached to them, and you dont want the guests to feel like they are getting walmart bubbly. I know its not important, but you know how people are....

I just had my wedding and served 5 cases of champagne (that's all the alcohol we wanted to serve). We were on a budget and tried maybe 15 different champagnes under $35/bottle.

Our favorite: barefoot bubbly at trader joe's for $6/bottle. Really. Next favorite was freixenet (more bubbles).

Martin Asti is a little too sweet for me.

Honestly, I really like Freixenet Negro Brut, but its a Cava not a champagne (if that matters). At any rate you can get it at retail for like $10 and it goes with just about anything. I believe Freixenet is actually the most popular wedding sparkling wine, and if you're in NM, maybe you can play on the Spanish angle

+1 on the Asti. It's not something that connoisseurs might love, but 95% of the population will enjoy it... that's more than you can say for most other <$20 bottles.
