People were complaining material was offensive. So instead of them comprimising (respecting our opinions) and not clicking the thread which is titled so that they know what is in it, they forced their views/opinions on us.

That is my view on what happened. If it had previously stated that this was bad in the rules then it would never had happened. I guess they can change the rules cause they have the power, but it's still crappy.

And what a kick that the reason is that it is not "businesslike". 40,000 views seems to be meeting some kind of customer demand. One shouldn't confuse "businesslike" with "puritanical". After all Jerry Fallwell runs a business too.

Anyway, seems like every few months something like this comes up and we realize the limits of coercive imposition of values. The last big one was, I think, the banning of Beig which (while it made my life more personally pleasant ) was just as ridiculous and fracturing.

It is of course not our board, but what kills clubs is argument and divicivness, not sex or unpopular speech. Community standards are best enforced by shaming and shunning, not by enforcement. [Wierd, but true!]
