A good reason to buy Craftsman tools
I received an email with the following:
I HOPE you have all seen the reports about how Sears is treating its reservist employees who are called up? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up.
Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years. I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution.
I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.
I checked with urban legends, and it's true in this case, So if you need some sockets etc., it would be a good time to visit Sears to support their generosity.
Yeah but since Kmart took over they're charging a re-stocking fee on tools that break even if it's a manufacturers defect. So much for that lifetime warranty.
That was not the experience I had recently. I had an old 1/2" to 3/8" Craftsman socket adapter that had broken probably 20 yrs. ago. I never threw it away because of the guarantee. Recently I remembered to take it back when I was in the area and they just gave me a new one no questions asked. Recently when I needed a new 23mm box wrench and 24mm socket to do my diff oil change I was happy to go back and pay a few extra dollars for the US made tools.

I just broke a socket last week, took it to Sears, replaced with new no Q's asked.
I've took back a couple stripped sockets last month, no questions asked. I believe all craftsman hand tools have a lifetime warranty, that is backed by Sears' Satisfaction Guarantee policy, so just mention that if you have a problem.
