If you have knowledge about sports, help me out with this please. Here's the topic in question: Which is the superior pure athlete? The NBA player or the NFL player...to put it another way which sport commands the most pure athleticism, NFL or NBA?

That's going to be a tough bet to win since it's based solely on opinions. What was the decided definition of "pure athleticism"?

Having played both sports, I'd have to say NFL. The game is tougher on your body, and requires a lot more from you.

Damn, I don't see how so many are picking NBA....one of the greatest players of all time, Larry Bird, was a sub-par athlete who would look like a stick figure next to barry sanders or ray lewis. We decided the way we're going to settle the bet is by asking ESPN analyst Chris Mortensen who knows pretty much everything there is to know about sports. Just curious to see what the general consesus was...i thought it was a no-brainer, but it seems most people like basketball players for some strange reason.

Part of the pure athlete is endurance and overall shape of the person. Too bad you didn't put soccer in the poll. I believe they are better athletes than both NBA and NFL players. Their field is larger and they doo a lot of running and other imaginative moves since they can't use their hands. I would have rated it #1 soccer, #2 NBA, and last NFL.

I think NBA required more skill than NFL... but of course, NFL is more a team play..!! in NBA, you could take the team up by playing selfish..(Iverson) .... But in NFL, that is mostly impossible...!! I like both, but I just like basketball more..!!

Since you bring up a different sport, take a look at wrestling. Not the fake kind mind you. I was a wrestler and it is very tuff. Even the football players on the wrestling team said football didn't come close to being so hard.
