got challenged to race... by a Sonata
I'm a member of this web developer forum that I go to from time to time to get code samples, ask questions, etc. The other day, I saw some thread there about cars so I click.
I would link to it, but its been deleted.
So some guy was asking about whether to buy an 02 Honda Accord or an 03 Hyundai Sonata and the differences between both. So I replied the Accord and gave some basic reasons why, mainly quality and reliability. Other people said Hyundai because its cheaper and of "more value". Than this one guy said he has a 04 Hyundai Sonata and goes into about how Hyundai retooled themselves and Kia a few years ago and how Hyundai/Kia are "leading makes now better than Honda." So I posted some articles from Car & Driver, Automobile, and Edmunds showing how the Sonata came in dead last in its class in every comparison done... ever.
This one guy got pissed and asked me why I know so much about Honda.
I replied that I owe an S2000 and I'm an automobile enthusiast.
He replies and said the S2000 is a "girl-mobile" and his Sonata has more power.
I replied that the S2000 comes with 240HP stock.
He then claims that I'm lying and states the S2000 only comes with 180HP and probably I don't even have an S2000 while his superior Sonata comes with 190HP. Then he said that in fact he'll challenge me to a street race, that horsepower doesn't matter and all it takes is more gearing to make his car go even faster.
BLAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Loser.

hyundai has gotten better. watch out, that torque converter equipped sonata with a 3:1 FD is comin for YOU.
while they are "quality" cars, they are still about 10 years behind on engineering.

Once, some fag in a Sonata chirped the tires leaving a traffic light (he must've seen me looking at his lame hubcap spinners). I simply keep up with him until about 50mph (speed limit posted 45mph) and sidestep it in 2nd. Roast the tires all through 2nd, and halfway through 3rd.
We line up again at the next light, and the guy doesn't even look over. I rev it up a few times, but he still just looks straight ahead. When it turned green, he just sat there for about 5sec waiting for me to leave.

My 84 year old Grandmother bought a Sonata last month. When I saw it in her garage I had to ask why she chose the Hyundai to which she replied; "I don't know. . . it just LOOKS like a Grandma's car".
