Default gov't surveys for work suck!

i get about 8 of these every year..."economic census" "analsurvey of manufactures", "Commodity Flow Survey", etc....

I always let them get way late and usually try to do them... this year I had some jerky call me and tell me to get them in your response is required by law

anyway.... they always ask a bunch of obscure questions about stuff that no one else would ask so I have to find ways to get the goofy ass numbers....

whine whine whine..... I would rather be watching rick astley!

Required surveys from the government? Can you give a specific example? While I'm not in finance/accounting, I'm wondering exactly what you'd have to fill out by law, aside from standard tax/income/revenue forms.

Ask him/her which law states that you have to fill it out.

You are required by law to fill out census information in all its various forms. Read up on Title 13 of the U.S. Code. http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/13/usc_sup_01_13.html

Of course, a law doesn't exempt it from being complete bs that you should be able to wipe your ass with.

^ ya some of them say "reasonable estimating" is okay or something like that...... i like to give them at least numbers that are close but it still sucks to have to run effing reports for this crap.

One of them had me use every 19th sales order for something.... i had to list the details to about 40 sales orders due to our company size....
