My little brother got me a laptop when I graduated from college and was going to grad school. That was very helpful.

If you are going to college, then something for school. Credit card for emergencies are always nice (or with some monthly limit, like $100/mo).

$1200 sounds good, that's $100 per each year from 1-12 grades.

Either way, congratulations and don't forget to thank them for all their hard work, encouragement, support, etc.

A racing/autocross school would be awesome. I did one a few months after I got my s2000 and it was a blast. I learned more about my car that day than I did the entire 6 months before that. Some of them are in the same price range as a new radar detector.

I was going to auto-x school for graduation before I had to sell my car.

Undergrad graduation I got a nice TV. Digicam, computer, a new wardrobe for college, furniture for an apt., nice stereo, auto insurance for a year (six months, whatever)...

Use your imagination.

A watch. Plain and simple each graduation should be celebrated with a watch as a gift. Something professional and durable

I whole-heartedly disagree. Sorry. When I graduated high-school and undergrad, a watch was something that would have been very disappointing. Yeah, it's professional and durable...but I'm not a professional (yet). I'd really prefer something that I'm going to want anyway.

For example, I was going to buy a TV (I won't go so far as to say "I needed a TV"). Nothing special, not as durable or professional, but the fact that I got a TV saved me from spending my money on it. I can go to work with a timex or a fossil watch and chances are no one would notice.
