If you like Dan Brown, you'll probably like almost anything by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child (they co-author). Some of the best by them are "Relic", "Riptide", "Thunderhead"...
did they make a movie from the book relic? it just sounds familiar. if not, then i'll probably get the book. it sounds pretty interesting.

thanks all the tips everyone! keep those recommendations coming!

There was a movie called relic about something alien-ish that starts eating people in a museum. Starred Tom Sizemore. Don't know if it was based on the book mentioned above though.

Ender's game will be a movie. I've heard a few times in the last year or so that its already in the works. If you haven't read the rest of the series, its worth the time. The next few have a different feel. More political, but they're still very interesting. Then there's the whole "bean" series (begins with ender's shadow). I haven't read the newest one yet. Its in a box waiting to be shipped to my next apt

Yes there was, I personally haven't seen it, its hard to find, but mainly because I don't like watching movies after I've read the book. I just don't like having the imagery I came up with in my head while reading replaced by that from a movie. But I'd definitely pick up one of those three I mentioned, they would all be a great introduction to Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. I'd recommend "Thunderhead" as the first book to read by them, Relic can start off a tad slow although once it picks up you won't put it down.

I would recommend "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom. It's a short read, but a good book. I find myself in introspect after reading it.

Personally I don't like books that are too serious. It makes it feel so much more like a "book" when it is serious.

If you read them Mescalito will direct you to the proper ones.

I had several philosophy classes covering the books.
