My first backpacking trip through europe (ok, not all of Europe, just parts of france and italy). I am in Venice right now. what an eye opening experience this has been.

Hey I was there in December! Did they finish the renovations of St. Marks Square yet? One thing I noticed was that the water was fairly clean in the canals.

I wasnt aware there was renovation going on in st. marks square. it looks perfectly fine right now. we are staying near the square in fact. yeah, the water is a little grean and smells like, well, like sea water. ok I guess once you get used to it. so far a fabulous experience.

ah, home sweet home...back in US now. just got back this afternoon. what a marvelous experience. our last stop was Rome. And we had to cut the UK out due to time and budget constraints. I heard the UK was very expensive (?)....
