Are you guys allowed to buy machine guns ?

That would keep the burglars away

I have three guns in the house. Two inherited rifles, one for fun (9mm). Also have a large Red Dobe for intruder alert and deterance that works better than the guns. And he is silent when on the alert (. Used one gun last week to get rid of a large crow that took up roost on my boat/boathouse. Dobe couldn't jump that high (.

I bought a Mosberg Pistol Grip shotgun when I turned 18, and have had it ever since. Only had to use it 1 time.

I've got a deer rifle and a shotgun. Both were purchased for hunting. The deer rifle has its bolt removed and stored in a separate portion of the house. The shotgun has a trigger lock. I've got a child on the way, so I will also get a trigger lock for the rifle as well as disposing of the few rounds of ammo I have left.

I have a Baretta 92 F for household protection and a 1858 New Army target model for Black Powder fun.
I used to compete in long range silhouette with a 30/30 Thompson Contender. It's a pistol. For those who don't know, the competition involves stations with steel targets shaped like animals. The longest is a ram at 250 yards. I was in the open sight division.
Needless to say, no one is going to come in to my house and endanger my families life.

What rights do you guys have if an intruder enters your house with an offensive weapon.
In England you have the right to use the minimum force necessary to overpower the intruder, otherwise you will go to prison for a long time and get sued for damages
The advantage is with the criminal in this country and it makes me mad !!

I think it has to do more with your imminent level of danger than subdueing the intruder. For example of someone is trying to rob you and you you shot them dead, no problem. If however they robbed you and you shoot them in the back as they are running away, that's a problem. Perhaps someone with first hand or learned knowledge could clarify.

If you are being attacked and you pop them, you have no real way to measure how much force is enough. You exert the maximum force you can until the danger subsides. At least IMHO. If I'm going to get in a confrontation with someone I will unleash hell on earth if necessary.

Me too, I keep it in the kitchen...JUST IN CASE!

In my office we have a Nerf gun. There seems to be an office massacre almost daily. It can get quite distracting

personally i've got a flintlock long rifle and a civil war era percussion pistol...to respond to the machine gun question..i know in the US you can buy decommissioned [inoperative] military weapons easily....as a ww2 jeep owner i've been eyeing a .50 cal browning for the back seat....[trivia...all military jeeps manufactured during ww2 had a crossmember on the frame with the holes drilled to mount a pedestal for a browning...not to mention a windshield rack for a garand or a m-1]
