Had an interesting night last night...(LONG)
Right now, I'm taking a break from studying for an interview I have tomorrow, so I thought I'd share an interesting experience I had last night, which I'm still psyched about.
Basically, it was a night of weird timings, coincidences, things coming together, etc. All leading up to the end result, which was something wonderful, one of my newest favorite memories.
Kekoa from s2ki ordered one of my CD's that I'm selling last week, and we had arranged for him to get his copy at DarkCrow's party last night. Although DarkCrow's party sounded fun, I was reluctant to go since I'm trying to save money these days. Kekoa posted that he wasn't going to go after all, and right around the same time, an ex-coworker (Kevin) called me up to invite me to a vietnamese dinner w/ other ex-coworkers + some roller skating afterwards. Since Kekoa wasn't going and this was a much cheaper alternative (and since Kevin mentioned he was inviting two girls that I secretly always wanted to hit on but didn't because they were coworkers at the time), I accepted. (Thanks to Kekoa & Kevin).
So last night, I went to dinner in Little Saigon, the food came in incredibly small portions and their steamed rice sucked. And there were 5 guys, 1 girl, and she was taken. The two girls I wanted to hit on were nowhere to be seen. However, I then learned they would meet up with us at the skating rink later. Woo hoo.
Then we caravan to the skating rink, and everyone starts showing up and skating. Girl #1 is cute, asian, carefree, looks younger than she is, loves S2000's, and can drive stick. She was practicing skating backwards (4-wheels SUCK when you're used to in-line skates), and she skating right into me even though she was watching where she was going - a flirtatious move.
I was about to spend more time mentally pursuing her, when Kevin said "she's cute". Which made me wonder if all was right with him and his g/f of many years. I asked, he said, "nope that's over otherwise she would've been here." (Thank you Kevin)
Right about now, girl #2 shows up. Girl #2 is 4 years older than me, asian, great smile & sense of humor, we got along famously at work and after we got laid off, and can drive stick. We skated around the rink having long conversations. I finally just asked her, "would it be weird if we went on a date?" She told me we're better off as friends. We continued on with our conversations and skating like it was no big deal (Thank you to girl #2, and for being so adult about it).
After two hours of skating, we're done and leaving. The group was standing around in the parking lot at this point about to say our goodbyes, when someone piped up and suggested we go to this vietnamese bar. (Thank you to that dude) I certainly didn't have anything better to do.
We caravan over to the bar, and as we're parking I realize that I've been to the place that is next to the bar we're going to. Di Vang 2, I think it's called, it's this place where, in the eveningtime, asian waitresses serve you delicious french-vietnamese tea while wearing very skimpy clothes. Yummy! I told a few others about this place as we're walking by it, and suddenly half the group wants to go there instead of the bar as originally suggested. But fortunately, the others insisted on going to the bar. (Thank you to the others)
So we go in the bar, get a big table for 10, order drinks, and watch the live singers on stage. I was going to order my usual Heineken, but because of the talk of Sam Adams on the SoCal club forum lately, I thought I'd give that a shot. (Thanks to Da Hapa & MajorHavoc) However, the waitress came back and said they're out of Sam Adams.
So not remembering my usual Heineken, I ask what they have, she goes down the list and mentions mixed drinks, and my eyes light up and I ask for Tokyo Tea. (Thanks to BMF for recommending this to me at the Baskin Robbins Run #1).
The waitress comes back with the Tokyo Tea, and after downing barely a third of it, I'm totally buzzed. This new singer gets up on stage and starts signing songs with a great dance beat, so we all get down and jiggle on the dance floor. Since I'm dancing next to girl #1 at this point, I was tempted to bump butts, but the singer onstage was so HOT (I had my back toward her), and the guys on the other side of the dance circle were gesturing for me to get on their side so I could have a better view. hehe. So I do, but only because I agree that the singer was really hot.
(Thank you to the singer for being so fricking hot)
We go back and sit down. Girl #2 next to me sees a different waitress serving food to some other people at some other tables, and makes a comment about it to me. That wasn't much of a comment, but it made me look over and watch this waitress w/ the blue shirt walk back past our table toward the bar. Wow, she is my kind of cute. (Thank you to girl #2 for pointing her out)
A few minutes later, the waitress in the blue shirt comes to our table and takes orders from one of the people at our table. The waitress then swings around to my end of the table and whispers something in my ear. I ask her to repeat since it's so loud in there, and she says "The bartender wants to talk to you". Whoa, that's weird. So I get up and go to the bar, to see who the bartender is. It's the guy who cuts my hair!! hehe. I always thought he was a little bit gay, and he drives a Miata (whoa never made the connection til now! j/k) But he's always seemed eager to cut my hair and likes my S2K etc. Anyway, so now I'm talking to him at the bar, I guess he's been working there for 4 years etc. Suddenly the waitress in the blue shirt shows up at the end of the bar to deal w/ receipts, orders, tips, and etc. We make brief eye contact. It was the kind of eye contact in which there's no words or thoughts expressed, rather it's just a brief moment in time that sticks in your head. So I ask the bartender/haircutter if she knows the waitress in the blue shirt. He suddenly gets kind sad and distant (sorta confirming my guess that he was gay and liked me), and mumbles an answer like he doesn't know etc. I tell him to have fun working and it was nice seeing him again, and that I'll be back for more haircuts. I go back to my table, now fully infatuated with the waitress in the blue shirt.
Right when I get back to my table, there's this big lady who is selling bouquets of flowers/roses, etc. Amazed at the timing of it, I wave her over and buy the nicest looking roses. She tells me $10, and I take the bouquet and get a whopping $7 out of my wallet. I'm so disappointed. I ask her if there's any other bouquets that she's selling for $7. I guess she didn't hear my question and starts counting the 7 ones I gave her, as if expecting it to somehow total up to $10. At this point, I'm handing the bouquet back to her, but she takes a deep breath and tells me to keep it. (Thank you to the nice lady who sells roses, who is also a singer onstage!)
Now my mind and heart is racing, and still under the buzz of the Tokyo Tea. Everyone at the table is like, "who'd you buy the flowers for?" Girl #2 has this look in her eyes that says to me that she thinks I bought the flowers for her -- so I tell her, they're not for you hehe. We laugh.
Ok I see my chance, I get up, take my roses w/ me (REGRETTING that I even bought the roses, since it just makes me look like a sappy hopeless-romantic which has never ever worked for me, always against me). I set the roses on an unoccupied table and wait for the waitress in the blue shirt to come walking by this post that I'm leaning on. She walks by and I gesture that I have something to tell her. I tell her I think she's soo cute. She looked at me and said "you could say the same thing about yourself!" OMFG So then I lean into her ear and ask her for her name. She then asks me "what's your name" as if she didn't hear me ask for her name. This is a good sign! She asked for my name first! So we exchange names hehe. Then, I tell her that I've had a bit to drink and that I would normally never do this (lie), but I give her the roses, to which she had the absolute most favorable reaction and expression on her face, like she actually appreciated it. Nice...
So then I ask for her #. She tells me she has to go back to the bar to get something to write with. So I am following her. And all the while I realize that all my ex-coworkers were watching and silently cheering for me hahah. And etc etc I get her number, and then I think she's cuter than I first realized etc. And then I'm in euphoria and go home early, and my S2K felt the most powerful it ever felt. I think it's true that the S2K can be in tune with the driver's state of mind.
Thanks to everyone involved in that little path of fate! I probably never would have done any of this if I thought I would be sealing my fate with either girl #1 or girl #2 (not healthy I know). Now all that remains is to NOT mess it up with the Waitress in the Blue Shirt.
