Talking HAPPY 2010!

I am tired of hearing..."welcome to the new decade"

its not the new decade....yet

2011 will be the start of the next decade.

Lets demonstrate together...

count to ten with your fingers....Did you start with 1 or 0?

we dont start counting with the value of 0. if we did, 10 would be in the 11th spot....hello...try it...start counting with the value 0 and see how many fingers it takes you to get to 10....lol

Just as 2000 was the last year of the previous century, 2010 is the last year of the first decade.

let's strive to look more ingtelligent in the new year...shall we?

I disagree, 0 precedes 1. 9 does not precede 0. Therefore 2000 and 2010 are both the first.

Look at a number line. What about the space between 0 and 1? That's where we are now. When counting, you say one to indicate that you've moved (in time) through the time between 0 and 1. This is where we are now. I say it is the new one.

You do if you're a computer programmer. Just because people don't commonly start counting with zero doesn't mean that it doesn't precede 1.

Yeah we should have started our Gregorian calendar at 0 A.D. but we started at 1. I guess there were no computer programmers 2009 years ago.
