Default hard wood floors

I have hardwood floors in my house and lately (maybe since the rainy season, but I'm not sure), I've been noticing these small little worms on the floor. They are like an inch to an inch and a half and black. They are thin too. And I always find them dead, dried, shriveled up, and stuff to the floor. I don't know where they come from, how they get there, and why they are always dead and stuck to the floor. Finally tonight, I saw one or two near the walls, and they were stil alive and moving around.

Man, its not only nasty, but its irritating the hell out of me. Does any of you have any clue what the hell this is, why they are there and how the hell to get rid of them. I live in an older (mayb 30-40 yrs old?) home.

thnks.

Wow....I have hard wood floors and have seen nothing like that. Maybe your location? The house I'm living in was built in the late 60's.

I have a hard time believing the hardwood is the source of the worms, as the wood would have been kiln-dried. Check first the seal under the outside door accessing the hardwood floor area - I would guess they are coming in under the door/over the sill.

Is the house built "slab on grade?" Its possible, although unlikely, that they could be coming up through a crack in the slab, and then between the wall and flooring.

Thought three - do you have a pet?

Other than that, maybe its time to remove the body of the ex-girlfriend from the closet. Seems she is getting a bit wormy...!

Good luck! And post any conclusions you reached!

Introduce a family of geckos into your house... if they're not already there. Sometimes, you'll see a baby running around in the morning, but no harm done. They do keep your house pretty damn clean though... Now I need to find a way to get rid of those damn crawfish in my backyard!

Could be worse though..they could be spiders
